Provost Guard

The Provost–a trusted unit dedicated to serving the Shrine and the public.

The Provost Guard Unit of Osman Shrine Temple was founded on March 5, 1959 to provide Aides-de-Camp to the Potentate of the Temple.  One year later, March 16, 1960, the Unit was officially recognized by the Osman Temple.  Its members served as drivers for the Nobility at ceremonials, parades, and other Temple functions.

Over the years, the Provost has evolved to a Unit composed of both active and social members who perform a variety of functions.  The Provost members continue to be available to the Nobility in chauffeuring, directing traffic and parking at various Temple functions.  In addition, the Provost Guard members are highly visible at parades as they accompany other Temple units, as well as provide crowd control and security.

At the annual Osman Shrine Circus, members of the Provost are committed to making the event enjoyable for everyone.  This commitment includes controlling school bus traffic and parking while providing security—especially in reuniting children separated from their parents—and  maintaining a lost and found department as well.

The Provost Guard Unit is always in search of good men who like to serve and to provide support that will ensure a successful and happy event for everyone!  Join us by completing the membership application!
